MYTHS...
There are many myths surrounding chiropractic ... here are some of the TRUTHS.
"I don't believe in chiropractic." Whether a specific person with a specific health condition responds to chiropractic depends on many factors. Restoring movement and energy to your spine always improves your health. Period. Whether you believe or not. It's not a religion.
"My friend's cousin's neighbor's uncle was sore after their first chiropractic visit." So what. If you exercise too hard on out of shape muscles, you'll be sore. So don't exercise? No - just start off easy. That's our philosophy too. We always start you off easy to minimize the chance of being sore. Does it happen? Yes - but only occasionally, and it's not bad.
"I went to a chiropractor and it didn't help." Well, I've been to mechanics that didn't have the right solution either. So I decided to just not take care of my car any more. That makes sense, doesn't it?
"Chiropractic is just for old people with bad backs". Tell that to all of the world class athletes and performers that depend on regular chiropractic adjustments to keep performing at their peak.
"It's too expensive. If I just take my six Advil every morning, I'm fine."
After diabetes, OTC (over the counter) pain meds are the number one cause of end-stage renal disease (kidney failure).
Can you say "dialysis"?
"I pop my own neck and back every day. Isn't that just as good?" The urge to stretch and move is certainly a natural one. But those who constantly feel the need to perform exaggerated maneuvers to get their own spine to "pop" - and only get temporary relief - need some outside help.
"My pediatrician doesn't think my kids need to be adjusted..." At least a third of our patients come by referral from their M.D. Kids should be no different. If your child has health problems related to their spine, no one is better qualified to assess that than a competent chiropractor.
