Your first contact with our office will most likely start with a telephone call. When our friendly and knowledgeable front office staff have answered any preliminary questions you have about scheduling or your insurance coverage, we will schedule you for an initial consultation and examination.

On your first visit, we'll give you a brief tour of the office to familiarize you with our facility. Then you will sit with Dr. Shaw for an unhurried consultation, where we can explore your concerns and health desires. Guided by this preliminary information, we will perform an in-depth neurological and orthopedic examination, including specialized chiropractic tests of your current nerve, muscle, and skeletal function. While not always needed, an x-ray radiological examination may be taken of the problem areas.

Armed with the information and knowledge from these exam findings, we will then give you, on the spot, our honest recommendations for treatment. You tell us how you'd like to proceed, and, if there are no further issues to explore, we can get started with treatment that same day.

We feel that it is our job is to diagnose and make recommendations, and then it is up to you to decide if that's what you want to do, and how you'd like to proceed. For this important first visit, many clients elect to bring their spouse or significant other, so that they can see the extent of any problems we find, understand the recommendations we make, and take part in the decision making process.

After making an appointment, you may ask us (if you wish) to email or fax to you the new patient forms appropriate to your insurance provider and/or type of case, saving you some paperwork time on your first visit.
