Dear clients and friends -
Happy
Memorial Day! Remember and thank those in our military, past
and present, whose service and sacrifices have kept the freedoms and
ideals of our nation alive. If you are in the military, or a
veteran, Thank You!!
Some other thoughts for the month as it warms
up outside...
1) WATER. All bodily functions rely on our
largely liquid internal environment. Do not wait until thirsty
to drink. In fact, when you feel hungry, it is often actually
thirst. Even on cool days, you need at least half of your body
weight in ounces of pure water. If you weigh 150 lbs, that's nine
8 oz glasses. If you're outside a lot, or exercising hard, double
that formula. Count non-water beverages as half of their volume,
since most will have at least a moderate dehydrating effect.
Check out our "water" website for more info on the benefits of purified
alkaline water: http://detoxtherapyspa.h2origin.com/. Cheers!
2) FOOD: Bigger Leads To Bigger.
When you're ordering a Starbucks
"Trenta" iced coffee, skip the whipped cream and sugar. An extra
200 calories per day will lead to a potential weight gain of about
2 pounds per month, or potentially 21 pounds per year. Fast
food hint: lowfat or skim milk in your latte or coffee; eat only half
your fries; get extra lettuce and tomato on your burger, and pull
back the bun as you eat (fewer carbs).
3) EXERCISE:
Walk It Off.
60% of adults over age 65 walk less than one mile per
week. Walking more and losing weight can improve mobility as much
as 20% in older, obese adults with poor cardiovascular health. Archives of Internal Medicine, January 2011
